I'm such a lucky girl!!!! My close friend signed me into disneyland to do her family pictures (blog coming soon) and while I was there I had one of my best clients be "on call" to do some pictures of her wonderful boy. I've been doing Lorence's every 4-6 months since he was about 6 months old. What a cutie!! Since they have annual passes to Disneyland, I was able to simply tell them that I was going to call them when I finished my family shoot and then we got to go do some pictures of Lo at the Happiest Place on Earth! and this is the happiest I've ever seen Lo for a photoshoot!!! =)

My good friend, fellow mom, hilarious person, and overall great friend asked me to do her family pictures at DISNEYLAND!!! oh yeah! Lucky for me, her husband is an amazing detail painter there and so kindly signed me in for the day.

This story goes to my history in photography. In high school, when given photo assignments, my go to location was disneyland. I have so SUPER FUN shots from all around the park..... of the details and nooks and crannies that most people walk right past. I later worked at disney in lowly ODV, and even went back for a summer in college. Lets just say I'm a disneyland native.

I had SO many ideas when then the prospect came up and oh how my dreams came true yesterday when not only did we have a ton of fun but I also got to see Tom Cruise ride the carousel with Suri.

Yesterday, I spent the morning with my family, went to the gym, got all cleaned up, drove to disneyland. Walked in for free, photographed a great family, then photographed one of my best clients (lorence). Tom Cruise is in some of my pictures. THEN went and had some tasty Karl Straus with the best intern ever and taught her how to shoot in low light. Rode some roller coasters (no lines really) Spent some time practicing my craft. I ate Mexican food with an Amber Lager and came home to my wonderful husband who had just cleaned my house. I have the best life ever!!!!

How to Process

Very few clients know exactly what goes on after their photoshoot. Why in the world would it take so long to get their pictures? (My full processing time is usually between 10-14 days). First thing to remember is that I'm not in my office 24/7, AND that not all the time in the office is devoted to processing images. (you know... there's also paperwork, emails, advertising, ordering etc.)

So, here's a simple step by step on how I do things around the office.

The image below if from Adobe Bridge. This is how I view, sort, rename and process your images. Many photographers use Lightroom. I do not. I prefer Bridge. Below you will see that the images say ".CR2" This is a RAW file, not jpeg (no processing was done in the camera). The first set is to take all the images (anywhere from 300-3000) and give them all 3 stars. I then do a quick sweep and remove my test images, anything that was out of focus or just a bad shot give them zero stars.

I then batch rename the images. In this case it will be Audrey001, Audrey 002, etc.

In my next sweep, I will pick out the Best of the Best and give them 5 stars.

I will then open the 5 star images in Camera RAW edit through Adobe Photoshop. This is where I can adjust the white balance, exposure, brightness, contrast and vignette. Sometimes ill get fancy and go black and white, or sepia or desaturated. =)

With those 5 star images edited, I will process them to make them JPEG images. In this case, since they will be uploaded to facebook and the blog, they are sized down to 800 pixels per largest side.

Now that I have the blog images, they can be applied to my blog and put up on facebook. This is how the "sneak peeks" are made.

After this, I re-do the process again with ALL the images so that I can upload them to the proofing site, make a slideshow, and prep for your proofing meeting.

I feel like my workflow has gotten to a good manageable amount of time. Now that you know what's happening, you can come help me out? JK, thats what I have kayla for. =)

If you know my husband you can tell 100% that this is his sister! Though she looks just like him (well, a female version), her personality is so much like mine! We're both type A, organized, designed, and planners! I dont get the opportunity to do maternity pictures very often, so I'm so excited with how great these turned out! Sometimes I do a photoshoot and while behind the camera I'm SO excited about the amazingness of what I'm seeing that I'm jumping up and down inside. I think that during this shoot, I was jumping up and down... but not inside... literally jumping up and down. And now, while going back through them, I'm sitting at my computer and yelling, "YES!!!!"

It sure doesnt hurt having a BEAUTIFUL subject, with the most awesome look, a gorgeous southern california day and one of my favorite locations, but this senior portrait session is by far one of my favorite shoots EVER!

LOVE this family. The three girls are all grown up (the youngest is graduating this year) and they are all home for Christmas. They came from Boston and San Diego and I couldn't say how happy they all seem to have some family time together. For the first time I used a new "hug" technique. Since there were no toddlers, my "fake laugh" technique and "tickle" technique seemed just a little silly. But.... this new found family hug seems to loosen everyone up and made for the most natural fun happy family photos. How to make a Family Laugh

As a photographer, or even as a mom, its hard to get a real genuine smile. Its even harder to get geniune smiles from 5, 6 or 7 people all at one time.

Most photographers have their tricks to get some personality into a photograph... well, here's mine and I encourage you to give it a try next time you're taking a photograph of a group of people.

Here's a wonderful photograph of a wonderful family. They are all nicely placed in a comfortable position at alternating levels and depths. They all have their "cheese" smile on, and they don't look miserable. =)

Before taking this next image I asked them to give me a BIG, SILLY, FAKE laugh.... BUAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHA HAHA...

After such a silly laugh most families, have a genuine chuckle at the funny sounds they heard from their spouse/sister/mom etc. They sometimes look at each other, but for the most part, they're just having a good time now. It never fails that making fun of one of them, or making them laugh at each other. Much better don't you think?

I know that for parents, family photoshoots are hard. I try my best to make them fun, but sometimes kids have another plan. Sometimes, they HATE the camera. Sometimes they refuse to sit, sometimes they try to run into the street. =) I think that this shoot was the epitome of the obstacles of doing photoshoots with toddlers. Personally, I think that it really captures the kids at this age. A few years from now, you might look back and think, "man.... that was difficult, but look how cute they are." We remember the good things. Sure, Gavin didnt want to smile, but when we put that hat on him, he was SO cute! Oh, and Declan almost ran onto Mission Blvd, but he sure did love wrestling with daddy. =) It captures your family just as it is. A round of applause for mom for ignoring the normally "unacceptable" behavior and still being happy for the family pictures!! I know how you feel Britteny.

Everyday I count my blessing for the amazing people in my life. Not the things, though I'm very blessed with a "comfortable" lifestyle, but I really really appreciate my family and friends. First, we'll start with my family. I have the most amazing husband who has worked so hard for us and supported me in my career and building my business. I get to raise our kids AND do what I love, but not without him. I have 3 amazing, beautiful, smart, important and kind children that I cannot even start to put into words my love for them. Then I have my parents and brother who are always there for me and I'm happy to say we see eachother at least every week. And dont forget my in -laws. I think I might be the luckiest girl in the world with the best in-law family to be found.

So, thats family, but there's also our friends. Since Nick and I got married, we've moved a few times and gone through a few friends, but within the last year or two, we've built some friendships that we know will last. This brings me to Kibby Family. Last year when Nick, moved to the haz mat station, he had a crew that made him happier than I've ever seen. Andrew Kibby was one of those guys that once we started hanging out as families, we just knew that we'd get along. I love this family and I'm so happy to see Kaytin as she grows up and cant wait to watch their family continue to grow.

Sometimes you start a photoshoot and you can just tell that its going to be the perfect photoshoot. Fun family, great kids, everyone is looking at the camera, and that oh so gorgeous family! The Hatch family one of 5 families that I did in one day at the same location. These were some mini photo sessions to help out some of those families that want a little more affordable option to still capture their growing family. I'm 3 families in, and its starting to get really cold and I see the Hatch family in their burnt orange outfits, not completely matching but looking JUST right. The Zychowski Family!!!! I love, love, love when a couple chooses to have me back time and time again to photograph their growing families. Jennifer and Jeff were referred to me by a mutual friend in San Diego. They were engaged and I was the lucky photographer that got to photograph their BEAUTIFUL wedding.... but first I did their Engagement pictures. We headed to a winery in temecula and had a day of fun.

Next, in 2008, the Zychowski Wedding. (looking back at old blogs really shows how much I've changed in my blogging.... hehe) Romantic, fun, different (loved the city) and BEFORE KIDS!! =)

... and then Whitney came. Late 2009, they had their first baby girl. Now, this was before I had a full set up for infant photography, and if I remember correctly, Whitney was already a few weeks old.

Just last week, they had their second baby girl. I headed to their home in Westchester (west LA... I'm not an LA person, so I can figure that some of my followers might not be either). Born October 18th, healthy and happy, she slept wonderfully for the entire photoshoot. Now, I had really, really hoped to get some good pictures of her and her big sister, but Whitney was really not a fan being close to Audrey. It will take some time for her to adjust to the new baby in the family. None, the less, it is astounding to be a part of this growing family and document their growth and changes and capture those memories that you never want to forget.

Laguna Beach Photographer

My parents and I decided to make an afternoon out of my Laguna Beach photoshoot for the Cephas Family (they watch my kids while I work... win win for everyone). I told my dad that I was meeting them near the basketball courts and he said, in his very 'i know everything voice,' "you know its really crowded down there, you're gonna have people everywhere." I smiled and said, "dont worry dad, leave it to the professional." He laughed and realized that I actually know what I'm doing. Its hard as a parent to realize that your kids might know something more than you... It's a really good thing that my kids dont! (at least not yet.... or is that just in my "controlling" head). I'm sure they will someday, but I'm going to savor every moment where I'm right, no matter what! =)

Now, Shelly Cephas is one of my old time friends. I can say that now because we've known each other for almost 4 years. I've done pictures of her since Trajan was 6 months old. Now he's 4!!!! Maybe I'm getting so nostalgic because as her family grows up, that means my family is growing up. I still remember when our kids were babies crawling around my loft and now they're SO big! BUT... it is one of my favorite things about my job, I get to see families grow, kids grow up, parents stay in love and the "american dream" thrive. I dont mean the dream of riches, a house or nice cars, but the dream of family, love, joy and all the happiness that you can see in Shelly's family.

I wasn't going to do pictures of my whole family this year, but I think I might have to after seeing Shelly's. How could I not! Memories.... the most important thing we can treasure.

My wonderful friends, Dan & Erin, invited me to visit their newborn baby Noah. Only 5 days old, he was pretty much still in a ball. =)

I've known Daniel for a VERY long time. We went to Jr. High and High school together. We were in Choir together, and kept in touch all through collage as well. When we both ended up back in Corona, with super super busy lives, we were lucky to still keep in touch. I met Erin while her and Dan were still dating, and I've gotten to know her and call her my friend. We hang out without Daniel sometimes too.

Dan & Erin had me photograph their wedding and I've done family pictures for them a couple of times as well. So, when I went to their quaint "cottage" in the wood streets of Riverside, I was super excited to see so much of my work on their walls. But my work wasnt the center of attention. Baby Noah is definitely the center of that home and why wouldn't he be. What a cutie. Have a look...

Jake and Krista!!! oh, and dont forget... Ethan!!! Jake worked with my husband when he was first put at the Haz Mat station and I've never seen Nick so happy at work. Sadly, Jake isnt there anymore, but we were lucky enough to make some great friends out of it. =) I took Ethan's Pictures 6 months ago when he was only 12 days old. He's grown so much!!! Thanks guys for having me do your fall family pictures!!!

What an adventurous and easy going couple. I finally convinced someone to come with me to my favorite Corona location... the river bottom. All the other shoots I've done there were Engagements and Seniors. the Lorenz's were the first family to come out for their shoot in the completely unmanufactured beauty of the River bottom. Well, let me just thank them for being so calm even when they were sitting in red ants that started to bite Jake, and then didn't freak out when they saw a snake. =) oops.... Maybe not the greatest place to bring a 6 month old. But I have to give them props for keeping smiles on their faces and still having fun.

BTW, my blanket is still in the river bottom covered in red ants.

I love weddings. It makes my job so much fun because I get to go to a lot of them. A wedding touches my heart. It wraps up the hopes and dreams of two people who just don't ever want to live without each other. Maybe I love weddings because I'm so madly in love with my husband. We're approaching our 5 year wedding anniversary and I can still just look at him and get butterflies and feel that amazing joy deep in my spine (why my spine... i dont know). I'm getting all teary eyed just typing this.

I go to weddings where I barely know the bride and groom. Sure, I helped them plan, I get an idea of who they are, and sometimes I even know their story.... but, I dont know them like I know my family and friends and even these weddings, my clients' weddings, make me feel all the hope and dreams of a wonderful future.

This is what makes THIS wedding so special to me. I met Krista a few years ago when she joined my mom's group. Krista, Kami (my neighbor and friend) and I all started to hang out a lot in this past year. Our husbands became friends, and our little group of 3 couples and all our toddlers makes for some really fun backyard BBQs. Krista and Steve arent the "lovey dovey" type. So when I said I'd do their pictures I was a little worried they wouldnt want to "snuggle" for me. But, on the contrary, they are so very much in love and seeing that my friends are just as in love as my husband and I makes me happier than I can put into words.
Steve and Krista were married 3 years ago, but didnt have a wedding, so this was more of a vow renewal, but their only wedding. Beautiful, fun, touching and an amazing celebration of their love.

Love really does exist! It can make you happier than any material thing in the world, and just seeing it makes me a happier person.

What do I do all day? Do you ever wonder why your professional photography costs so much? Man, sometimes I wonder why I have to charge so much. I know, as a family, that there's never a time where you're not watching your money. Who wants to "over spend" on anything? So, again, I ask, what is it that takes so much of my office time?

I recently started to log my office activities on Thursdays.... the one day a week that my kids are in daycare. And it kind of goes like this:

update invoice and pricing - 1 hour

respond to emails - 1 hour

Promotional Materials (samples albums, prints, products, business cards, etc) - 1 hour

More emails - 1 hour

Back up computer - 1 hour

Blog/Sneak Peak pictures - 15 minutes

Facebook ads - 15 minutes

Client pricing information - 45 mintues

Contracts - 15 minutes

Blog Prep - 10 minutes

Clean out my computer - 1 hour

Work on Public Pricing - 1 hour

All of this responding to emails, and posting blogs has to do with new business. Now, This is just last thursday and I'm spending a decent amount of time learning a new contract and pricing system. Hopefully, once set up, it will help lower the amount of time I spent on contracts, pricing and emails. But, notice that I didnt even really get to touch pictures. I did ONE blog post (which didn't even go up because I let my intern do some of the grunt work).

So, if that was my 8 hour day, not including any photoshoots or editing, It makes some more sense that I need to paid for all of that time. Also remember that a good portion of time is spent constantly attracting new clients and advertising. Some businesses (hair, childcare, etc) have ongoing customers, but I'm really lucky when I have a customer come to me once a year. Which I really am lucky because I have quite a few of those amazing loyal customer. =)

To wrap things up, Thank you so much to my loyal and wonderful clients who have taken the time and money to invest in their pictures because they will last a lifetime!!!!

Corona Beer Brewing

No, Photography is not my only hobby. Did you know that my husband and I brew our own beer. That makes it better for you. ;) Its all organic =)

So anyway, I brewed my first solo batch a few weeks ago. We've named all our our brews and this one is "Brittney's Belgian". YAY for me. =) hehe

Of course, I had to photograph it and document it.... so here's a little crash course on brewing your own home brew. This recipe was bought from MoreBeer in Riverside. Though, we prefer to get our kids and ingrediants from Addison's Homebrew Provisions in Orange. The owner down there is VERY helpful and a great guy to ask any kind of question.

There are few very important things to know before you start your first brew. #1 and most important. Sanitize, Sanitize, Sanitize!!!!

Sanitize EVERYTHING. We take a large cookie sheet and sanitize it to set all our sanitized items on while we're brewing.

And.... more sanitizing

And dont forget to buy distilled water because even the water that comes out of our faucet is not sanitized. Its filled with various bacteria which goes terrible with yeast.

After sanitizing the Brew Kettle and spicket, we can start brewing. This picture is our brew kettle as I start steeping the grains. This is sort of like making a tea. You simply put grain into a nylon mesh bag and steep it..... =)

And.... it looks that thats all the pictures I took. hahaha =) Next I added the malt & hops, later, the warflock, and then chilled it. Transferred it to a carboy, pitched yeast, and let it sit for 2 weeks. This particular batch blew the vapor lock off and hit the ceiling of my kid's bathroom. Last week, we bottled it. Ready to drink in just about 1 more week. I'll let you know how it comes out. =)

Baby Claire is absolutely beautiful isnt she? Only 7 days old and such a calm baby. Mom says that she doesnt sleep at night so she's asleep almost all day. I know that a photoshoot is way different. Babies arent used to being posed and moved and posed again over and over, so its hard to get them to sleep. None the less, Claire was probably the "chillest" baby I've met. She was asleep for the beginning of the photoshoot, but then she was awake!!!! but not crying, not upset, easy to pose, but definitely awake! We get to see her beautiful blue eyes and she still is so peaceful!

Family Photography

Over the course of my career, I've changed my style, approach and artistic "eye." A lot of my new inspiration and motivation comes from other artists, friends, photographers and professionals. Recently I looked through a blog post by, Della White Photography and was inspired to have a different approach to my next family portrait session. I found that in the past I was trying to create a "photojournalistic" flare in an incredibly non-candid way. I wasnt doing to bad, but this family gave me the opportunity to guide them to truly just have a fun day on the trails of Oak Canyon Nature Center. Of course, I still did some posing and "look here" type of things, but not only did we have fun, but most all of the pictures are much more relaxed and casual. I'm loving this new approach and cant wait for my next "subjects" to experience the fun photoshoot without the "stress of posing."

Lyla, here, is one of my best friends' daughters, my kids' friend and a girl that is booming with personality!!! She can be cuddly, sweet, silly, funny, helpful (...not helpful) and so many more things. On her family's photoshoot she showed me just about all of her sides. The little nuances that make person just who they are.... the person that we love. This is why being a family, kid, senior, wedding photographer is so rewarding. I'm a recorder of history. Lyla will not always be 4. We might forget that she loves the sounds of farts.... but not if I capture a picture of all of them making fart sounds and then laughing their heads off about it. Her family will have memories storied away of Lyla being exactly who she is, with all of her faces and exuberant personality traits.

As I was browsing Pinterest, as I do all too often, I found this pictures of a baby in a fire helmet and I just HAD to get that in my portfolio. Well, luckily for me, I know a lot of firemen (not because I'm some firefly, but because my husband is a fireman.... hehe) and even MORE lucky for me, one of them just had a beautiful baby girl.
Now, when I showed my husband what I wanted to do, he said, "There is no way I would ever put my newborn baby in my fire helmet, what makes you think that the Kibby's would." My husband is always super concerned about the harmful "stuff" that coats their equipment. Well, thank you to firefighter Kibby for taking all the stuff out of his helmet, cleaning the whole thing and putting on his turnout jacket in the heat of summer so that I can get this picture. =)

Baby K, only 7 days old, was really really cooperative considering that I was trying to get her to sleep in a fire helmet. =) anyway.... I got the shot!!! and here it is.

...and then, the Kibbys invited me back 2 days later to get some more great shots! She's so precious.

This was one crazy shoot! not only was it almost 2 hours long, but also coordinated for 5 cars to meet up and find the perfect spot in Hillcrest Park for these pictures. The Johnsons are our close family friends and since we met 2 1/2 years ago, I've been doing pictures of the Johnson girls, maternity pictures and a few family shots for them. Well, all of this was leading up to this massive family phtooshoot. =) Kami, the amazing crafter and owner of Sticky Kisses and Dirty Hugs made all the headbands, and so perfectly coordinated their outfits. She had her two sisters come along to help out with the girls and props AND her cousin, owner of Vintage Affair Designs came to prep and design our sets.

All this planning put a lot of pressure on this evening, but with just a little reminder to HAVE FUN, we did just that.

Senior Portrait sessions are in full swing! Meet Karlee and Kalya who did a "best friends" shoot in downtown Riverside and a "secret field" that I like to shoot at. =)

Karlee, our blonde here, is a graduating senior at Santiago High, my alma mater. She's a total natural in front of the camera and was relaxed the whole way through. So much fun!!!

Kayla, who is also my wonderful, hard working intern (and babysitter), is absolutely beautiful, but needed a little joking around to get relaxed. Both of these girls have been friends their whole lives and we had a ton of fun doing this session. The only regret I have was not leaving 3 hours to do all the pictures because I wanted to take SO many more. =)

So I guess they're not both the class of 2012, but it works for me.

Canon EOS 5D mark ii

My new love! I am so happy to say that I now have two camera bodies at ALL times!!! My original professional and first love, the Canon EOS 5D, and my brand spankin new mark ii! I tried it out yesterday at Lorence's 2nd Birthday party (the best birthday party I've ever been to) and of course these were mostly snapshots, without planned lighting, but I'm completely in love. So crisp, so fast, so everything I could want. What in the world is Canon going to outdo with this up and coming mark iii. I havent even tried the 1080 HD video feature. Who knows what I'm going to get with that! Here's a few from yesterday.

Business vs. Stay at Home

Those of you who know me, know that in addition to being the amazing photographer that I am (hehe), I am also a full time mommy. This past Monday, I made my way to Long Beach, for the WPPI roadtrip conference. A bunch of "tion" words come to mind when trying to describe my day, inspiration, motivation, conviction, overwhelmation ... =) jk on the last one. Anyway, one of the overriding themes of most of the speakers was: "OUTSOURCE!"

I was thinking about this today.... and as a business, especially photography, it makes sense to do what we do best, and have other take those the things we're not so good at. For most photographers, this is editing and post processing. For me, I think it will be marketing and accounting. =/ I was definitely not trained in either of those areas.

Then, I got to thinking about everything else I do in my life and what else I'm not so good at (or just dont like doing) and what can I outsource???? Of course, this came to me as I was vacuuming my car. =)

Where is the balance between the DIY side of being a housewife and mommy and the I just am not good at that. I'm always shocked at the projects and "fix it"s that my husband takes on. I usually just think "why dont you just work an extra OT hour and hire someone to fix our toilet"... but he's a hands on guys, so more power to him. Me, on the other hand.... I could most definitely outsource cleaning, dishes (which have been clean in the dishwasher for 2 days) and LAUNDRY!!! oh, how the laundry is never ending. but... then I'd probably just spend that time working or playing on facebook or pinterest. So I guess I'll table the idea to outsource my "housewife" duties for now, but I think it will just have to come up again in the future. =)

p.s. I have to give my husband tons and tons of credit for all of the "housewify" things he helps out with around the house. not only does he do all his work laundry at the firestation, but he also does a good majority of our housecleaning... so what am I complaining about?

From uncomfortable to just hanging out

Groomsmen are usually the most reluctant people to take their wedding pictures.

The groom has the love for his bride, and is ready to go along with whatever she wants for the day.

The Bridesmaids spent all kinds of time getting all beautified and now they get to show it off.

Families, really want to remember that day, so are actually pushing to make sure they get that great picture.

....but those groomsmen... they probably wont even look at the wedding pictures. They're there for their friend, but could care less about the pictures.

So.... its my job to make them comfortable and have some fun. I know its like 100 degrees out in this field in Perris, and you're in long pants, closed toed shoes, vests, and jackets, but common.... let's smile. =) just kidding. its way harder than that. Check out this 10-15 minute progression of these groomsmen that went from "super stiff" to laughing and having fun. I can't take all the credit because they stepped up and cracked some jokes when I asked, and kuddos to the groom who was the MOST relaxed of them all (for all of his pictures). Tons of fun. I love my job!

I've been doing Lorence's Pictures since he was just about 6 months old.... and I just cant believe that he's 2 this week. I'm lucky to get to see this cutie grow up and even more lucky to get to go to his ZOO birthday party this weekend. ...and I dont mean zoo themed, I mean they are actually taking us all to the zoo! I might be more excited than my kids. =)

So, back to the photoshoot. Lorence is QUICK!!! I mean that kid can sprint across a park faster than Ricky Bobby on a racetrack! But, our bigger challenge was getting him to smile. Let's just say he wasn't feelin it this day. I came with all these great ideas (balloons, chair, luggage...), and we DID get a few of them, but Lorence decided that he was over my camera, and really just wanted his daddy. Given the situation, I think we still got some great shots for Lorence's 2 year old pictures.

I met Kelli and Daniel earlier this year as they were planning their July wedding. They had a specific style they were looking for, a photographer that matched their personalities. These two are fun, comfortable and really relaxed. They love the outdoors and being adventurous and most of all, they love each other and you can see it in their eyes.

You may remember their engagement session at the corona river bottom. This spring location was green and blooming but it still took a bit of a hike to get there. ...good thing they like hiking. =) I had so much fun with them that I couldn't wait for their wedding. Not only are they two gorgeous people, but they put together a beautiful wedding at Kelli's parent's home. Daniel did almost all of the landscaping and you would think that this location was "meant" for weddings. The Johnson's have been close family friends for about 2 years now. We met at our association's summer BBQ. May, my daughter, was only a month old and we got along with Kami and Todd immediately. Since then our kids have almost weekly playdates, we have family get togethers all the time and we cant imagine not having the not Johnson family in our lives.

I remember when Kami got pregnant with Stella... 9 months later, they had a new beautiful baby girl to add to their family. Kami had me come to their house and get some infant pictures when Stella was only 10 days old. I still have a magnet on my car from that photoshoot. Well, can you believe that Stella is almost 1 now!!!! Kami started her own craft business making bows, tutus, and other VERY cute boutique items, and I'm the lucky one to photograph all of it. Baby Ethan, only 12 days old and already very outspoken. Now, all infant shoots require moving the baby around and tucking their legs under, taking away their pacifier, and moving them right after they get comfy. Ethan was not so happy about being moved around. He was totally exhausted, and a few times, we just left him to sleep in a basket before moving to the next pose. None the less, he is quite a model for the camera. I cant wait to do pictures of him and his family as he gets older.

Its amazing what a little cropping can do.

And when we were finally done, mom laid him on the couch and he was SO happy. Fell fast asleep.

May is Turning 2

Its sad to say that since I've been working so much (taking pictures of other people and their loved ones), I've neglected to take pictures of mine. SO.... I rented a lens this weekend for a wedding and took my little ones out to get some pictures and scout locations. Of course, I didnt have Dylan, so the photoshoot is incomplete, but none the less, at least I got some of Preston and May.

Just a quick update. Preston turned 3 back in November, May is turning 2 on April 23rd, and Dylan will be 9 on the 24th. My kids are getting big so fast, and I'm so happy to have such an amazing family.

Love and Adventure

Kelli and Daniel were excited when I mentioned going to a field in the middle of Corona for their engagement session. With their love of hiking, outdoors and each other, this location was perfect for them. We did some walking through the river bottom and found that the recent rains followed by sunshine gave us some amazing field greens and a beautiful sunset background for their engagement pictures. In Love

Offering special pricing and blocked out mini photo sessions, I had 5 kids that volunteered (or their moms volunteered them) to come on out and bring their "favorite things". What a Family!!!

It just doesnt get any cuter than this! We headed to the trails behind Irvine Regional Park and had a ton of fun walking the trails, and wandering through the trees. Addisyn, just over 1, is incredibly funny. She reminds me so much of my daughter, with a strong personality and a smile that could make anyone feel warm and happy. She loved the trees and dirt and always wanted to walk on her own. Thank you so much to the Kooimans for making our photoshoot so much fun!

{Just Married}

Mr. & Mrs. Ford made it official on November 21st in the pouring rain of Temecula. This very wet Sunday morning gathered their friends and family at Lake Oak Meadows, nestled in Temecula Wine country. The down pour, that rarely shows its face in Southern California, didnt stop Taylor from having and outdoor wedding on the grass just below the vineyards, nor did it keep Taylor and Christian from smiling from ear to ear. Taylor is the perfect bride. Planned the day around photography, picked a gorgeous location and would do just about anything and always with a great attitude.

It was pouring rain all of Saturday and all of Sunday morning (day of the wedding). We all hoped that the clouds would break and the ceremony could take place without umbrellas, but the skies were persistent and continued to drop some of the heaviest rain I've ever seen in my 27 years here in Southern California. Taylor kept a smile on her face, and her ceremony outside.

Luck would have it that the second Taylor and Christian finished their ceremony and got into their limo.... the skies would break and the sun started to shine. Though not what they had planned, it was perfect for their pictures.

Thanks so much to the new Mr. & Mrs. Ford for including me in their wedding day and for being such amazing models!

Kristen Wild and I have "traded" family pictures for each other for years now, and I think this is the first year I've put up a blog for her. silly huh? Anyway, we went to the gorgeous Oak Glen trails to get that "fall tree" look, and boy was it fall up there! The leaves had all turned colors and were covering the dirt paths. I had a lot of fun! Gotta love the Cephas family. Shelly has me take her family pictures every year and pictures of her boys throughout the year and I love doing it every time! This is the 3rd year now, and I love seeing the boys grow and change. They're a wonderful family. It couldnt get any more "fall" than this. What a gorgeous place and a gorgeous family!!!
